The computer industry is constantly changing, upgrading and evolving; in order to stay current and employable, you need to keep yourself up-to-date on all the latest changes in your specialty.
Publications, online information, in-person conferences and workshops, message boards, RSS feeds - all of it will help you keep up with the very latest, and make you that much more likely to get (and keep!) a job.
HRDC keeps National Occupation Codes (NOC) for each occupation across the country, with descriptions of each as well as probable duties and similar occupations. Most of our programs are not confined to a single NOC code - with a diploma from CDED, you can usually choose between many occupations.
HRDC also keeps a website called JobFutures.ca, which is full of information on job prospects across the country, with detailed statistics on Average Hourly Earnings, Average Unemployment, Work Prospects, and more. The NOC codes are more generalized on this site, so all of our New Media diploma programs (web design, 3d, etc) all fit under the same umbrella here.
Also an HRDC site, the Labour Market Information site can help you find information on specific companies who might be hiring in your area. This is where those NOC codes come in handy. Check out the Employment Prospects section. Search not just in your own area, but in areas you might interested in moving to.
