Preparing for the Interview

Instead of dreading this ordeal, think of it as a golden opportunity. You have probably been selected from a large group of applicants. You already have something going for you. Be thankful for the opportunity to show them you are their BEST CHOICE.

  • Plan ahead. Know what you will be wearing. Make sure it is clean, pressed and appropriate.
  • Always take a copy of your resume with you and a pen. Do not fold your resume.
  • Know the exact location and name of the person you will be seeing. Do a test drive.
  • Arrive approximately 10 minutes early; no more.
  • Never be late.
  • Do as much research as you can about the company and the particular position. Know what business they are in; who are their major competitors; if they are local only or nation-wide, etc. If possible, check the Internet for a web page.
  • Anticipate questions that you may be asked. If possible arrange a mock interview. If there isn't time, practice by yourself - sit in front of a mirror and pretend you are answering questions in the interview watch your facial expressions, gestures are you projecting a confident, enthusiastic image?
  • Analyze your strengths and weaknesses. You almost surely will be asked about these.
  • Have 2-3 short questions ready.

Load up on confidence, lots and lots! You are a graduate and have a lot to offer.
